Rear Bumper Clearance for Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2013 Subaru Outback When Using Bike Rack

Question:

I am going to be installing this on a 2013 Outback 2.5i Limited and will use this for a bike rack. How much clearance is needed from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper? 13390

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13390 is a confirmed fit for your 2013 Subaru Outback. The center of the hitch pin hole will be 2-1/2 inches back from the outermost part of the bumper to allow compatibility with any of the bike racks we carry to fit well. For use of this hitch receiver with a bike rack, you will also need stabilizer strap # 18050 in order not to void Curt's warranty.

If you do not wish to use the stabilization strap, then I recommend the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver # 75673. That hitch will have a hitch pin hole that is 5-1/2 inches back from the outermost part of the bumper, so you will need to ensure the bike rack functions you desire allow for that distance, which many, but not all do.

We do list these clearances on all of our bike racks so you can determine the closest part of your rack based on that center of hitch pin hole dimension.
