Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for Bike Rack on 2018 Toyota RAV4
Question:
Hi there! We would like to get a swing away bike rack able to hold 3-4 bikes. What do you recommend? We currently have a Thule 4 bike rack on our 2008 Sienna that hinges down and allows us to get in and out of the trunk without unloading the bikes, but it makes it hard to fully access the trunk space. Could we transfer the hitch from the Sienna to the RAV4, or do we need a new one? Thank you!

The hitch from your Toyota Sienna will not fit your 2018 Toyota RAV4. I recommend using the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98864 which is a confirmed fit for that vehicle. That will allow you to use your current 4 Bike Thule Rack on your new vehicle.
If you want the swing away option for either vehicle, I recommend adding the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # Y02483. This will adapt any 2 inch hitch receiver bike rack into a swing away bike rack. This swing away hitch extender has a weight capacity of 250 lbs and will allow you the clearance you desire for cargo access with bikes loaded.
