How to Carry 2 Bikes on Towed Jeep Wrangler for Rear Hatch Access

RE: 2017 Jeep 4 door Wrangler Sport with 2inch receiver hitch . Towed behind motor home requiring frequent access to rear Jeep storage. A male and female bike both in the 35 to 40 lb range. I have since modified my search to the above. It seems that a hitch mount that is easy to mount and dismount bikes might be best and Ill just have to live with removing and remounting the bikes when I need rear access. That said, I need a bike rack that will be low profile enough so that I can open and close the tailgate without having to remove it. Can you suggest anything? Thanks

I recommend using the Yakima HoldUp EVO # Y02443 with the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender # Y02483 for your application. From what I've looked at in the past there aren't many bike racks that will sit low enough for that spare tire to fit above it, and none of the bike racks that are compatible with a flat towed vehicle have a low profile.

The BackSwing gives you the ability to swing the bike rack out to a 90 degree angle to your hitch receiver so that you have enough access to the rear hatch area of your Jeep.
