Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2015 Dodge Durango with Factory Crossbars
Question:
I own a 2015 Dodge Durango with factory side rails and stowable crossbars. Not a very useful unit for carrying kayaks etc. I am confused when I go to Yakimas or your on-line vehicle fit tools as to what system if any will work for me. It appears that one or the other of the Q Tower or Baseline tower is recommended, however to use either, the factory rails need to be ignored and not used. But, there also needs to be enough room to install the towers between the door and the factory rails, and Im not sure which one of those two tower systems would work the best. Im sure Im not the only one with a Dodge Durango with factory rails to use a Yakima system. Perhaps a Thule system would work better? I havent checked that possibility as yet. Thanks

I checked with Yakima and Thule and while they don't have a roof rack solution that's been test fit for a 2015 Dodge Durango with factory crossbars they do both fit their kayak carriers to the bars you have. The JayLow part # Y04073 is a confirmed fit and a great choice.
This rack will fit the factory crossbars of your vehicle and a single kayak. You can use two if you have more than one kayak and then when not in use you can fold the upper arm of the rack down.
