Can Shank # P249 be Used with Swagman Traveler XCS # S64664 when Not Using it on an RV
Question:
I am looking at purchasing the Swagman Traveler XCS # S64664 for use on the back of my Motorhome while towing a Toyota Solara on a dolly. While this will be its main use I will want to use the bike rack on other vehicles and wanted replace the curved shank with a straight shank for this purpose. It looks like the P249 shank that comes with the # S64663 rack will interchange with the curved rack but want to make sure this can be done. Also while reviewing the QandAs this question was previously asked and the answer indicated that the Swagman P306 replacement shank would accomplish this. With this being an 1 1/4inch rack with 2inch adaptor I am not sure how this will fit the Traveler XCS rack but may be missing something. I have vehicles with both 2inch receivers and 1 1/4 receivers so if this may be a better option?

Expert Reply:
You would not want to use a 1-1/4 inch shank with a 2 inch adapter on it on a bike rack used at the back of an RV. That makes # P249 the better option for rack # S64664. So it can be done.
