The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness # HM43575 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2006 Nissan Xterra, but this will provide you with a 4-Way flat connector and not a 7-Way.
In order to install a fully functional 7-Way connector on your vehicle, I instead recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118266. This custom-fit harness will install by plugging directly into existing ports located under the vehicle, on the driver's side of your Nissan Xterra. It also includes the necessary relays to activate the tow package on the vehicle.
