It is important for your 2014 Jeep Cherokee to be wired for flat towing. Tow bar wiring allows your vehicle to have functioning stop, turn, and tail lights while being towed. To make sure your Jeep has functioning tail lights when towed, a custom-fit plug-in harness can be installed to use the existing lights, the Jeep can be hardwired to use the existing tail lights, or a universal lighting kit can be used to add additional lights to your Jeep specifically for towing.
I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 to connect your Jeep to your motorhome. This diode kit allows you to use your vehicle's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. Wires 2-wire and 3-wire systems to operate as a combined lighting systems. Includes 7-wire to 6-wire Flexo-Coil electrical cord. It lets you wire your vehicle to accept your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights for flat towing.
If you're using a supplemental braking system you will need Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400. This relay works with your tow bar wiring system to ensure that your towed vehicle's turn signal lights flash in tandem with your RV's lights.
The purpose of a brake light relay kit is to prevent your towed car's brake signal from overriding the turn signal that comes from your RV. When your towed vehicle is properly wired and connected to your RV, its indicator lights will illuminate as you engage the turn signals in your RV. However, if you have only a four-diode system in place, the turn signal will be overridden by your towed car's brake signal as soon as your supplemental braking system presses the towed car's brake pedal. As a result, drivers behind you know only that you're slowing down and not that you are turning.
If you need recommendations on base plates, tow bars, safety cables and a supplemental braking system to complete your Flat Tow package to safely tow your Jeep Cherokee, please reach out to me.
If you need something to connect the two, I can make a recommendation, if I can know which connector is on the motorhome and which connector is on the Jeep, if the Jeep already has a connector.
