Recommendations For Replacement And Upgrade Parts For A 2007 TrailManor 3326 Travel Trailer

Question:

Hello. I have a 2007 TrailManor 3326 travel trailer. She has 2 Dexter 3500 lb axles with 10” brakes and 5 lug hubs. Can you recommend self adjusting brake assemblies, drums/hubs, bearings, and seals? Also for comparison sake, how about an electric over hydraulic disc conversion? I currently run a Draw-Tite iStop IQ rebadged Tekonsha Primus IQ brake controller. Would I need a different controller with disc brakes? I’m a master auto mechanic, so I’m confident I could do the setup myself. Thanks!

Based on the information you sent me, your 3,500-lb trailer axles probably have the common inner bearings like Item # L68149 and outer bearings like Item # L44649. I do not know the bolt pattern of your wheels but the most common patterns are 5 on 4-1/2 and 5 on 5, I will make recommendations for all based on these bearings sizes. I have attached an article on "how to measure bolt patterns" in case you need it.

For a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern with 10 inch diameter, I recommend Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, Item # AKHD-545-35-K. This assembly works with electric and hydraulic brake assemblies and comes with bearings, races, and a grease seal.

For a 5 on 5 bolt pattern with 10 inch diameter, I recommend Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, Item # AKHD-550-35-K. This assembly works with electric and hydraulic brake assemblies and comes with bearings, races, and a grease seal.

For electric brakes, I recommend Electric Trailer Brake Kit Item # AKEBRK-35-SA. This kit includes left and right hand assemblies and is self-adjusting.

For electric over hydraulic disc conversion, I recommend the Titan Disc Brake and Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit, Item # T4843800. This kit includes everything you need to switch over to disc brakes for improved performance and greater stopping power. It has an electric over hydraulic brake actuator, disc brake calipers and mounting brackets, breakaway kit, and entire hydraulic line kit. It also includes hub-and-rotor assemblies with bearings, races, and seals.

You will also need a new brake controller and I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller, Item # RED44FR. Your current controller only works with electric trailer brakes whereas this controller is a proportional controller that works with electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes. The Redarc is easy to install, has almost no mounting restrictions, and can be mounted in an out-of-the-way location.

If you have a different bolt pattern, different bearings, or have other questions, let me know and I will make correct recommendations.
