Replacement Hardware Kit for Re-installing Trailer Hitch on 2005 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Hi, I have a 2005 Toyota Highlander 4 Cylinder Base Model and Im trying to install a Trailer Hitch that from another Toyota Highlander in the same model year range. Unfortunately, I only got the trailer hitch back and not the bolts from the new owner when I sold the car. What size and dimensions are the bolts and washers I need to intall the hitch to the new Highlander? Thanks.

Don't worry about not having the old mounting hardware for your hitch; you cannot re-use it anyway since hitch mounting hardware can be torqued to spec only one time. After that it must be replaced with new hardware.
We offer kit # RHK, which is a replacement hardware kit for every hitch we sell.
Both aftermarket hitches made for your 2005 Toyota Highlander, Curt # 13530 and Draw-Tite # 75153 are shown on the linked page. Take a look at your hitch's safety sticker to find its part number and brand name, and then simply enter that information in the fields provided on the page for the RHK kit. We will then send to you a complete hardware kit for that specific hitch.
Also linked for you are two articles with helpful guidance for an easier hitch installation. The install instructions from both Curt and Draw-Tite are included as well. These list the tools needed and the specific torque values to use for the hardware.
