Is Trailer Tire Capacity per Tire or Axle

Question:

I have a homemade camper that I built off an old single axle boat trailer. The trailer specs say it is capable of carrying 3000lbs. The camper when fully loaded is a little over half that, but for erring on the side of caution lets say 2000lbs. The tires that came on the trailer are Carlisle ST 205/75D14s which besides a little dried on mud, appear to be brand new Theres no weather checking or anything. On the tire it says a max load of 1760lbs at 50 psi. See I dont know if thats per tire...or what. Hopefully you can answer. I was wondering if these are adequate or if they need to be beefed up? I put a lot of time and effort into this project and would hate to skimp so close to completion. Thanks so much for your time and expertise!

The load capacity listed on the sidewall of a tire is the capacity per tire. So if you have tires that say 1,760 lbs per tire you'd have an axle capacity of 3,520 lbs. So you have more than enough tire capacity since your trailer has 3k capacity.
