Can Additional Camera be Added to the Hopkins Smart Hitch System # HM50002

Question:

I have a Hopkins smart hitch camera system for my truck. It works great! Id like to use one on my trailer too but see some issues with having multiple monitors on the dash and possible interference between the truck one and the trailer. By which I mean the truck one might be alarming all the time with the trailer hooked up. Is there a kit where you can between two sensor/camera systems and just have one monitor? Thanks

The alarm on the Hopkins Smart Hitch # HM50002 that you currently have can actually be muted via the button on the lower right part of the monitor. I do have some options for you to utilize an extra camera but it will involve adding a new system or swapping out what you have since the Smart Hitch is only compatible with one camera.

If you don't want to get rid of the Smart Hitch but you do want to add a camera to your trailer then a great solution for you would be the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-770718. This system will replace your current rear view mirror with one that has a monitor in the driver side corner of the mirror when you are backing up. It comes with 66 feet of cable which should work for most applications.

To install a monitor that is compatible with 2 cameras I recommend the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-770614. This doesn't include a camera that mounts directly to your license plate location, but it will give you the option to switch which camera you are looking at on a single monitor.

To span the gap between your vehicle and trailer you can use the Rear View Safety Monitor Extension Cable # RVS-106 which is 8-1/2' long, or you can use the Rear View Safety Trailer Tow Quick Connect/Disconnect Kit # RVS-2133. The kit will have more of a sealed connection but is utilized for a 3 camera system.

I have attached some review videos you can check out as well as the installation instructions.
