Recommended Dual Receiver Alternative for Larger Trailer and Bike Rack
Question:
Are there any dual receiver adapter hitches rated high enough to tow a travel trailer 550lb tongue weight and mount a Yakima Swing Daddy bike rack?
asked by: Boyd H
Expert Reply:
The dual hitch receiver adapters reduce your tongue weight by 50%, so there isn't a great option with the 550 lb tongue weight for that style adapter. What I recommend instead is the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers - 7,500 lbs # D210 which will give you the second receiver and the ball mount, but will not cut your tongue weight capacity of your hitch receiver. This ball mount will allow you to use your bike rack and tow a trailer with a 7500 lb weight capacity.
I recommend using a hitch lock like # e98882 to secure your ball mount.
