Curt 4-Pole Wiring Harness C59236 Installation in 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
Question:
Hello, so I bought the 4-pole wiring harness # C59236 for my Range Rover as my utility trailer does not have electric brakes that require power. I detached the driver side tail lamp and saw theres a 6 pin connector as you can see from the picture I attached. I used a multi-meter to test the voltage DC, the left up and bottom pins are always having 7.4 V. But all the other four pins are always having 0 voltage, no matter when I turned on the DS signal light, or depress the brake. I am confused now regarding how to find the brake and turn signal circuits. please advised.

I suggest confirming that when you re-connect the tail light wiring plug in your 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport all lights operate properly. This would be the brake lights (when the pedal is pressed), the tail lights (when the vehicle headlights are turned on) and the turn signals when these are engaged. I suspect they will but it is helpful to confirm that all of the required signals are present at the lights before wiring in the trailer harness.
On your vehicle when the connector is unplugged this can cause those circuits to go into "limp mode". If the connector is unplugged there will be no load seen by the circuits and they may shut themselves down. Try re-connecting the plug and testing the wires leading to it. My technical contact indicated this should restore normal circuit operation and allow you to identify the correct wires for installing the trailer harness.
