Recommendation For Less Steep Steps For Fifth Wheel

Question:

I have a fifth wheel with a 3 pull out step. I’m looking for steps that are less steep. Is a 4 step going to do that or does it just add another step. I know I will need to know the width of the door but could you point me in the direction of a less steep easy to walk up steps for my coach.

Because you want steps that are easier to navigate, I recommend something like the Torklift GlowStep Revolution Scissor Steps w/Landing Gear-4 Steps, Item # TLA8004.

The Torklift, Item # TLA8004, has aluminum steps that are lightweight, fold up for storage, and are 8 inches deep x 22 inches wide. You can fine tune the height and level of stairs with the built-in landing gear legs which also make these steps more stable. The mounting base dimensions are 27-7/16 inches x 12 inches deep. They have a 7-1/2 inch drop/rise and the height from top of step opening to ground is 32-1/2 inches - 40 inches. Glow tape lights each step at night which is much safer. Aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel construction. Made in the USA.

To make access even easier, I recommend adding a Torklift GlowGuide handrail, Item # TLA7621.

In order to find the correct fit and get the right steps, you are going to have to do a little measuring. You want to start by measuring the width of your stair assembly, followed by the height from stair to stair. After that, you want to measure from the center of the step assembly at the crossbar to the diagonal line at edge of the bottom stair. I have attached a video to help with your measurements.

Send me your measurements and I will make a correct recommendation that best meets your needs.

I have a 2015 solitude by grand design it has 3 steps. I have seen the new solitudes they have 4 steps and two stabilizer arms on them to make the step more solid to the ground. Can I just buy an extra step with the stabilizer arms that just bolts on. It looks like I can I have seen them. Where can I buy it and what part number would it be. Thanks

It depends on what brand steps you have on your Grand Design Solitude, but we do have add-on steps available for the TorkLift assemblies, such as the 27-7/16" wide # TLA8001. The landing gear posts can be added with part # TLA8000. If you have a different brand setup let me know. I have also copied a link that will take you to our full selection of add-on step kits.
