Availability of Cover for 5th Wheel Trailer with Slide Outs Extended

Question:

I have a question about your coverage for fifth wheel trailers? Can you get a cover for a fifth wheel trailer or do you recommend getting one and putting it on if you have the slide outs out and youre living in it year round? I have a Durango gold 48 and 1/2 foot fifth wheel trailer manufactured by KZ Manufacturing and Im currently living in it. I thought that may be covering up my trailer would be a good idea to protect from the weather elements. I live in a cold-weather climate in Chester Montana and it gets down to 35 40 degrees below zero and we have some pretty extreme weather here in the winters. And we also get some pretty strong winds up to 60 65 miles an hour maximum. Let me know your recommendations. Thank you for your time.

Although they do not make any covers for a 5th wheel trailer with the slide outs extended, I may have a solution for you.

You could use the Erickson Heavy-Duty Silver Tarp # EM57019 to help protect your trailer against the elements. This tarp has 14 x14 weave and measures 20 feet by 40 feet. You would only need to find the best way to secure it.

Since covers are not made for your specific application, this is the best solution to help protect your 5th wheel trailer.

What about buying one slightly larger and adding extra straps to secure it? My slide is only 4 ft wide if that even.

@Holly The covers are not designed to work with the slides out. The tarp mentioned in the article is the best option.

@LesD Sounds like I'll be designing one in my down time this winter because I need one. Thinking of to bring in a little sunshine while it's covered as well. All I know is I will be making modifications and maybe some repairs to one this winter because with everything I did last year I still think to much heat escaped. Although it did do the trick I didn't spend a single night in a hotel thought I might have to but didn't.

Sounds like an insulated trailer coozie! Good luck to you in your endeavors. It might be the next big thing!
