Troubleshooting One Tire Wearing on Tandem Axle Trailer
Question:
I just bought a 2007 Carson Fun Runner fc202 toy hauler with dual 3500# axles. I noticed the rear passenger tire, and only that tire, has excessive wear compared to all others and they are new, less than a year old. Only about the outer 2 inches have extreme wear, Google search appears to show it as feathered wear from excessive toe in or out. I believe there is an issue and previous owner said to replace the hub/bearings as that may be the issue. Does this seem correct and what do I need to order? Im still learning about this trailer. Thanks!

When a single tire is wearing down on a tandem axle trailer there are going to be a number of potential issues. The axle may be out of alignment or bent, you could have a brake locking up, a damaged wheel or bad bearings. If the previous owners recommended you replace the hub and bearings then I would suggest doing that.
In order to find the correct wheel bearings, you can take apart your hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them, as well as the grease seal. Knowing the bearing and seal numbers will also allow you to find the correct replacement hub so long as you also know the bolt pattern.
I've also added a link to a help article on figuring out bolt pattern, as well as an article detailing common bearing sizes and a link to our available hubs.
