Flat towing a vehicle requires a number of components including the tow bar, base plates, a wiring/lighting kit of some kind, safety cables, a high/low hitch adapter and a braking system for the towed car. All of these items are detailed in the linked article on flat towing, which is a great place to start your preparation. Additional articles are linked too. Our installers really like Blue Ox products but Roadmaster makes quality products too.

Blue Ox base plate # BX1307 fits your Mini and can be used with their Alpha tow bar # BX7380 which includes safety cables. Braking system options are linked for you but the easiest and most universal option is the Blue Ox Patriot, part # BLU37TR, which is wireless and fully portable. For lighting kit # TL21RK is low in cost and easy to install.

Vehicles differ in how they can be towed safely so it is wise to check your printed owner's manual for any guidance or restrictions regarding wheels-down towing of the 2009 Mini Clubman. I reviewed an online edition of the manual and on page 127 it indicates that automatic transmission versions cannot be towed unless the front wheels are off the ground such as when towed by a tow truck or with a tow dolly like # RM-2050-1.

I recommend reviewing your printed manual or contacting a local dealership with the car's VIN so they can confirm its equipment and suitability for flat towing.
