Recommended Braking System for 2009 Jeep Wrangler already Equipped with M&G
Question:
I would like to take advantage of our new Jeep already equipped with complete Blue Ox towing package and MandG supplemental braking and break away systems. Our MH is a 2017 Winbebago 31KE 2016 Ford 53 chassis with hydraulic brakes. Both Both Winbebago and Ford strongly discourage tapping into the hydraulic brake lines. Is there any mechanism that will allow me to take advantage if my current equipment - or should I invest in a different braking system?

Since your Winnebago has hydraulic lines, and not an air over hydraulic system I don't believe the M&G system will work. I have looked at their website and they use air lines to connect the two vehicles. I can't find any information on how they convert the hydraulic system to air for the connection. We do not carry this product so we have not done any installations and their website doesn't give much help. It appears you would need to add a compressor and accumulator to your Winnebago to make the slave unit on your Jeep operate.
I recommend not tapping into that hydraulic system and instead using the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251 which will also require the stop light switch kit # RM-751452, but will use an inertia sensor in addition to the brake lights to apply the brakes to your Jeep. This system is an easy installation and becomes a plug and play system after the initial adjusting at install. This is a no maintenance system that won't require any brake bleeding or changes to your motorhome brake system.
