Weight Distribution Recommendation for a Ford F-150 Towing an Airstream Bambi Trailer

Question:

Is this item overkill for trailering an Airstream Bambi 16ft 3500 GVWR with a Ford Ecoboost F150 12000 lbs towing capacity. I also occasionaly haul a dual axle 5 ft x 16 ft. flat bed trailer. Sorry I dont know the specs on that one. Im attracted to the ease of innstallation and seemingly simple components?

When choosing a weight distribution system, you will want one that has a tongue weight capacity range that encompasses 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight when it is loaded and ready to tow. For your trailer, 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight (of 3,500 pounds) is 350 to 525 pounds.

If you like the Blue Ox weight distribution, then I recommend the SwayPro Weight Distribution System, # BXW0550. This system has a range of 350-550 pounds, so it would work well for your trailer.

As you have suggested, the Blue Ox system is very user friendly. And this system comes with the necessary adjustable shank, so all you would need is a properly sized ball like # 19286 (2-5/16 inch diameter) or # A-90 (2 inch diameter). I have included a link to the installation details for you to view.
