For your 2010 Ford E-450 motorhome, I recommend you get the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195. This controller is proportional so your trailer will have the brakes applied to it at the same time and with the same intensity as you hit the brake pedal in your motorhome. This controller also has an easy to read and understand LCD screen that takes code deciphering out of the equation. It gives you diagnostics in a way that is easy to understand and has 3 preset boost levels depending on the size of the trailer.

If you have a factory 4-way, then you will need the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Ford # 3034-P. This adapter plugs into the connector behind your vehicle's dashboard. To reach the connector, first locate the notch in the access panel in the center of the dash, near the passenger side. Using a trim panel puller, carefully pry the panel out and undo the locking tabs to remove the panel. You will find the mating connector behind this portion of your dashboard. This will still require running a brake controller wire from the controller to your vehicle 7-way. You can use # 37185 and # 10-1-1 for this installation.

If you do not have any factory connectors, I recommend you start with a 4-way like # C56020 that installs to factory plugs behind your tail lights. Then you will use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7 to run the wires to connect your brake controller and your 7-way trailer connector to that 4-way.
