Trailer Hitch Receiver and Other Parts to Tow a Trailer with a 2016 Infiniti QX50
Question:
I have: 2016 Infiniti QX50 AWD. Is there a hitch that will work for a bike rack and to tow a light weight trailer? Infiniti says no but I cant see a reason why not. I saw in instructions to invert muffler mounts. The product guide gives me a frame mounted hitch but no mention about 2WD vs AWD is shown. Proper installation is not a problem. Thanks

We do have the parts to carry a bike rack and tow a trailer that fit your 2016 Infiniti QX50. However, if Infiniti says you can't do one or the other then I can't recommend against them. They're the ones that determine the capabilities of your vehicle and will also be the ones deciding whether you were compliant with their warranty guidelines in the event there's an issue later on.
The hitch receiver we carry that fits your Infiniti whether you have 2-wheel or all-wheel drive is the Curt # C11510. This is a Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitch that installs without any drilling. However, the exhaust must be temporarily lowered. The install details are linked on this page.
For trailer wiring use # 119250KIT. This will provide a 4-way trailer connector. It uses zero-contact sensors that clamp to the wiring so there's no splicing needed to install.
The recommended drawbar is # C45521. For a pin and clip use # F-4. Then for a hitch ball use # A-80 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # A-82 for a 2 inch ball.
The Curt hitch receiver requires that you use a support strap, # 18050, when you're using the bike rack. This is per the hitch's warranty. You'll need the strap if you ever use a cargo carrier on the hitch as well.
