I am considering buying a travel trailer, the specs say it has a tongue weight of 545 pounds which equalizer hitch would be the most cost efficient to buy. What weight would I need?

For an unloaded tongue weight of 545, you would need to determine the loaded tongue weight and then add to that any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. This will give you the total tongue weight you need to determine a weight distribution system. I recommend getting a weight distribution system that has that total tongue weight fall right in the middle of the rating for the system.
This most likely will make the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # EQ37100ET the best fit. The range of this unit is 600-1000 lbs for total tongue weight. This system comes with everything you need including a hitch ball, but you may want the # EQ70-00-4800 to install the hitch ball if you don't already have the tools to do so.
