Comparing the Thule Vertex and Thule Hitching Post Pro for a 2015 Toyota Sienna

Question:

I am interested in bike racks for my Toyota Sienna 2015. I see two products, TH9029XT and TH934XTR. Which one suits the van better, and what's the main difference? One is 100 dollars more than the other. Can you share any additional info on why one is better? The PDF has lot of info but if you can summarize it for me it will help me to make a decision. Also, will both of them work for a Toyota Sienna?

Though the Thule Vertex 4-Bike Rack, TH9029XT, and the Thule Hitching Post Pro 4-Bike Rack, # TH934XTR, are often compared, there are a number of key differences. The Hitching Post Pro offers straight dual arms to attach the bike to, whereas the Vertex provides dual arching arms, which provide more space between the bikes than standard dual arms. This feature allows pedals and handlebars to hang at separate heights and helps prevent them from coming into contact with each other during the loading and unloading process.

Additionally, the Vertex is equipped with quick-release levers called HitchSwitches that allow an easy way to fold the arms down for storage, comes with built-in handle in the mast to make it easy to carry, and is built from steel. The Hitching Post requires a pin to be removed to fold the arms down, does not feature a handle, and is made from a combination of aluminum and steel. Both of the racks will fit on either a 1-1/4" or 2" hitch, so as long as you have a hitch installed, the racks will work with your 2015 Toyota Sienna.

I recommend the Vertex, for a couple of reasons, starting with the integrated cable lock that allows you to lock your bikes to the rack, preventing theft, a feature the Hitching Post Pro does not offer. The Vertex being made from steel also makes it the sturdier choice, and the extra space the arching arms give can be beneficial to the durability of your bikes in the long run.

I have included a link to a video review of Thule Bike Racks on a 2015 Toyota Sienna for you.
