Question:
I have a trailer hitch and am looking for a heavy duty bike rack to use with it. These two bikes weigh 100 lbs. apiece. One girls and one boys bike. Thank you in advance.

The highest rated hitch-mounted bike rack we currently have available is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 2-Bike Carrier for Electric Bicycles # HLY84FR, and it has a weight capacity of 80 pounds per bike. It is compatible with 2 inch trailer hitch receivers and includes a hitch and cable lock to secure the bikes. If your bikes have batteries and you are able remove them to get below the 80 pound limit, then this rack should work great, however if you are not able to do this then I cannot recommend you transport your bikes with a standard bike rack.
The safest way to transport your bikes may be to simply load them into a small utility trailer like the Detail K2 # K2MMT5X7. For a ball mount, I recommend the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2 Inch Ball # C45036. I have also attached a link that will take you to our available selection of ball mounts as well as an article that will help you determine the best one for your setup.
If you do decide to do this, I will be happy to also recommend wiring to activate the trailer's signal lights if you can tell me the make, model and year of your vehicle.
