2018 Promaster 2500 SumoSpring Recommendation

Question:

Also, would you recommend sumo springs for the front as well? What would the front sumo spring do for the vehicle? What model would the front springs be? Thanks,

For your 2018 Ram ProMaster 2500 the SumoSprings rear suspension kit you'll need is the part # SSR-313-54. This has the most support at 2,800 lbs which will be ideal since you will be converting your setup to a camper.

I'd first try it with both spacers. If you find the ride quality is too harsh then maybe take the one out, but I would be shocked if you didn't prefer the spacers. The springs are most likely going to touch all of the time due to the additional weight you are adding.

Thank you for responding so quickly. I just want to clarify that my camper is already converted and gross weight is at 6700 # which is way below GVWR of 8900#. I am not going to add more weight to it. Do you think SSR-313-47 or SSR-313-40 will give a softer ride, or at 6700# GVW you still recommend SSR-313-54? Thank you for your reply,.

Since you are wanting a softer ride quality the # SSR-313-40 will be your better option. This has a lower 1,000 lb capacity. Also I believe I over-estimated the weight you'd be adding so in that regard this kit is the better option as well.

A set of SumoSprings for the front axle is going to help balance the support. Since a portion of the camper's weight is ahead of the rear axle the front axle will share some of it so adding support there will help. For that you'd need the # CSS-1195F which fits between the front coils to help support the front suspension. Without this you might feel like the front suspension feels a bit unsupported and might not feel balanced compared to the reinforced rear suspension. With the kit installed the support will feel better overall and there would be less sway too in corners.
