Will B and W Companion Slider Hitch Give 2008 GMC Silverado 2500HD Enough Turning Clearance

Question:

I have a 2008 GMC 2500HD short box, Z71. I bought from your CO, the BandW Companion under bed installation kit that will be used with the Companion Slider 5th hitch. My truck has 18 inch tires. I have definite plans to buy a 2016/2017 Jayco Eagle HT 27.5 RLTS fifth wheel. Most of the trailers are out of state that I might purchase so I dont know what success I will have not knowing Bed rail to Trailer clearance and turning trailer to cab clearance. I bought this BW setup thinking that I will have nothing on the bed when the hitch is removed. But I am worried about: a. The slide can move just 12 inches where other hitches have more travel backward to enough clearance between trailer to cab. Will I have a problem with JUST 12 inches of slider movement with this clearance? b. I bought this hitch knowing that I can adjust the height from 17 to 18 to 19 inches of height. With my 18 inch tires will I have bed rail to Trailer clearance problems? Do I have to modifiy the trailer height with a trailer axle modification? Hence, I really would like to hear your comments about questions a and b above before I buy the rest of the BW 3405 at $1700 from your company. Also, fyi, the BW that I buy from your company installation for below the bed WASNT easy because the T25 screws that keep the Exhaust heat shield wouldnt come out and had to be grinded off and new screws had to be wielded in place after I had to modify the heat shield that WASNT in the instructions.

In terms of turning clearance the 12 inches that the slider Companion part # BWRVK3400-5W provides would be more than adequate. This hitch is often referred to as the nicest hitch on the market and we have not heard of any issues where the slider wasn't enough clearance for your truck so it's going to fit and work well.

In terms of height that's a bit harder to say since you only listed a change in rim diameter and not in overall tire diameter. If the ride height of the truck didn't change much you are most likely going to be just fine. But that's also dependent on the height of the trailer. It's actually pretty rare that hitch height causes an issue. Normally that's not a problem.
