Can 4-Way of Boat Trailer Be Replaced with Coiled 7-Way
Question:
I want to install a coiled 7 pin plug on my 4 pin boat trailer to use on a 2006 4Runner 7 pin connector. I want to use something like the WG54006-043 and eliminate the 4 pin plug altogether at the trailer end if possible. How would I do this and what materials are required? Representative pic of hitch attached. Thx!

The part # WG54006-043 could pretty easily replace a 4-way on a trailer like what you have. It would basically be just cutting off the 4-way and wiring the 7-way in it's place. The install video I attached shows a junction box being used to accomplish this like the # 38656. The video will walk you through the entire process.
The circuits not needed from the 4-way to the 7-way can simply just be not used without a problem.
