What is the Next Trailer Tire Size Up from 18.5 x 8.5-8

Question:

I have an 1984 Shasta 165 with 18.5 X 8.5 - 8 tires. What is the next size up or whats the largest wheel/tire package I can use on this trailer? Thanks

Technically the next size up from an 18.5 x 8.5 - 8 is a 6.90/6.00-9 but it is not common so I would not recommend going to that size. The next common size up would be a 205/65-10 such as # AM1HP52. It would be slightly more narrow but almost 2 inches taller than the 18.5 that you have now. So there would have to be enough clearance above the existing tires to use the larger size and still have room for the travel of the suspension.

Going up a wheel size will require different wheels. We have 205/65-10 tire and wheel combos with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern, 5 on 5-1/2, and 5 on 5-1/2 bolt patterns (uncommon).
