How To Wire Separate or 3 Wire System and Third Brake Light For Flat Towing A 2010 Honda Fit
Question:
I want to wire the car using the separate turn signals from brake light. I also want to utilise the center brake light. What do I need to order and how do I do it. Thanks a lot. This is a great how-to site. The motor home is a separate system also.

To wire your motor home which has a 3 wire system to your 2010 Honda Fit with a 3 wire system, you will need to use the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154, as well as Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes, part # RM-792, which includes 2 diodes. The 2 additional diodes are for the separate turn signals.
To install part # RM-154, you will begin by running the 4-way connector from the front to the rear of the vehicle. Then you will need to use a circuit tester, part # PTW2993, to determine which wires on your Honda carry the running light, brake, and turn signals. You will then connect the wires on from the vehicle to the 4-way wiring harness via the diodes. Finally, you will need to install a 6-way connector at the front of the vehicle to connect to your motor home. This process is shown in a video I have linked, the difference is that you will need to use 2 additional diodes for your turn signals and connect to the turn signal circuit.
To wire in your center or third brake light, I contacted our representative at Roadmaster, and he informed me that you would just run a jumper wire form the brake light wire to the third brake light. He informed me that you would not need to use a diode for the third brake light.
I have linked a diagram showing how to wire a 3 wire system to a 3 wire system. I have also linked a video installation of part # RM-154 on a Jeep Liberty that you may find as a good reference.
