How Wide of a Cargo Carrier Should I put on My 2008 Honda CR-V
Question:
I am going to buy the valley trailer hitch class 3 2inch for my Honda CRV and am basicly stuck between a 20x48 and a 20x60 carrrier. I would like as much extra capacity as possible but am worried that the 60 inch wide carrier might be too big for the CRV. Any useful thougths or feedback would be greatly appriciated. Not looking for promises of satisfaction but just a little reassurance that the 60 inch carrier will not be a problem I guess.

From the research I did it looks like the width of your 2008 Honda CR-V is 69 inches. If you needed the absolute most capacity as you could get from a cargo carrier I would recommend you use the 20x60 Railed Cargo Carrier, # C18150. However, if you went with this carrier you would have to be extra cautious when backing up and making sharp turns.
If you went with the 20x48 Cargo Carrier, part # C18145, you would be gaining an extra 6 inches on either side of the cargo carrier, but you would be losing that the same distance as cargo capacity.
The two factors I would consider the most is, how much room do you actually need, and how spatially aware you are when you are driving. You could easily pull off using the 20x60, but if you are prone to backing into things I would not recommend it.
