When you are looking at a Weight Distribution System, you are going to want to base the weight rating off of the Tongue Weight (TW) of your loaded and ready-to-go trailer, plus any cargo that will be behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Since the ideal TW of a trailer is 10-15 percent of the Gross Trailer Weight, the Blue Ox Spring Bars that are rated for 350-550 lbs # BXW4005 will work well if your TW plus any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle does not exceed 550 lbs.

For your application, since the dry weight of your trailer is already at 3,500 lbs, I recommend using the Blue Ox Spring Bars that are rated for 750 lbs # BXW4006. These bars have a range of 550-750 lbs which should be in the range of your trailer's loaded and ready-to-go TW plus the weight of your cargo behind your tow vehicle's rear axle.

It is always wise to prepare your trailer and tow vehicle as if you were getting ready to leave on a trip and then figure out these weights so that you can pick the appropriate spring bars for your setup.

I have attached links to some demonstration videos and a few helpful articles for you to review as well.
