Electric Brake Controller Recommendation on 2011 Kia Sorento
Question:
Hello. I sent in an inquiry on Friday, but havent seen a response so I may have done it wrong. I have a 2012 Kia Sorento SX/V6 with towing package. The manual states a 3500lb towing capacity with a 350lb tongue maximum with the stock Curt hitch. I want to purchase a camper that is under the 3500lbs but has a tongue weight of 415lbs. If I replaced the current hitch with the Draw Tite #75684 and used it with a Weight Distribution system I see that the tongue weight capacity goes up to 500lbs. Would this combination work ok? Also, do you have any recommendations for a weight distribution hitch and brake controller?

It looks like your questions have been answered from when you originally asked other than a recommendation for a brake controller. I suggest the Prodigy P2 # 90885 because of how reliable it is and how easy it to use. You'll also need some additional parts to install it.
On your 2011 Kia Sorento you'll first need a 4-way trailer connector. The # C56332 will provide this for you. It plugs directly into your Kia's wiring using a plug along the frame rail at the rear of the vehicle.
Once you have the 4-way you'll use our # ETBC7 kit to add the wiring for a brake controller as well as the 7-way connector. Once the # ETBC7 is installed you can then hardwire a brake controller.
