Recommended Pin Box Replacement For Venture Short Pin Box

Question:

I am looking for a pin box extension for my 2001 united uxt fifth wheel trailer. It is a triple axle unit with three 8k dexter axles and g rated commercial tires. Its rated to 24k lbs. it currently weights approximately 13,500 and will be close to 20k when we get done remodeling it. It has a short box style pin box that is 12x12inches on the inside diameter and the bolt holes are 7.75-8 inches apart and have four rows of holes every 2 inches up the pin box. Pin is centered between the holes, or at the 4 inch mark. I am trying to find out what pin box this is so we can add an extension to the front. The trailer is being connected to a 2006 ford f550 cab and chassis with a steel flatdeck on the rear. I have one of your Reese 30k fifth wheel frame mounted hitches on the deck. Our problem is that we need about ten more inches of space where the corner of the flat deck pivots under the trailer. Can you help me figure out what pin box we have and what you might have for a heavy duty pin box extension that would be rated for at least 20-24k lbs?

I have attached a help article for you to confirm size, but based on what measurements you gave, I am fairly confident you have a Venture Short Pin Box. We only have one pin box replacement for that, and I am very pleased to say that it will meet your needs.

I recommend for your trailer the Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel King Pin - Steelco/Davis, Venture - 21,000 lbs # UF35-946219. This is a direct replacement for your OEM pin box that is an air-ride-equipped model. The interior air bag absorbs road shock so that you won't feel it. There is a built-in spring that ensures the pin box rebounds, keeping the air bag from breaking down. This will improve the handling and overall ride of your trailer by limiting strain on your truck and trailer frames. It has a 21,000 lb weight capacity which is the highest we offer. This will give you far more than the 10 inches of space you need.
