I suggest a weight distribution system that has sway control. To choose the correct system you'll need the tongue weight of your loaded and ready to tow trailer added to the amount of gear in the Ford Flex behind its rear axle. A trailer's tongue weight should fall within about 10 to 15 percent of its total weight. The best way to determine your trailer's tongue weight is to use a scale # e99044.

Since your trailer is 3,200 pounds empty and it's presumable that you will be adding to that when you're towing the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66558 may be a great choice. This system is rated for 600 pounds tongue weight and uses friction pads similar to automotive brake pads for sway control. The brackets clamp to your trailer's frame so no drilling is required for installation.

You also need a hitch ball. The Steadi-Flex uses a ball with a 1 inch shank like # 63845 for a 2 inch or for a 2-5/16 inch you can use # 63847.

If your Flex doesn't already have a trailer hitch receiver you can use the etrailer # e95KR with single exhaust or etrailer # e52AR with dual exhaust. Then for a trailer connector # 118472 or if you have the tow package # 74682.
