Tire Chain Recommendation for a 2005 Dodge Ram 2 Wheel Drive Diesel with 265/70-17 Size Tires
Question:
I have a 2005 Dodge diesel 2 WD single rear tires. LT265/70R17. There are many designs to choose from such as V-link, Cable, V-bar, Twist Link, and more. Which chain set, if any, has the best durability, and ease of installing? Thank You

Square link style chains will provide the most durability and versatility between snow and ice for your 2008 Dodge Ram with 265/70-17 tires. If you are looking for something that is for on-road use only, I would go with Pewag Brenta-C 4X4 Snow Tire Chains, # PWXMR82V. These are going to offer square links, and will be among the easiest to set up with the color coded design and the diamond chain pattern offers the best side to side and front to back traction.
For something that can be used off-road as well as on-road, I recommend the Pewag All Square Mud Service Snow Tire Chains, # PWE2439S. These chains install like traditional chains. Drive over them, wrap around the tire, tighten them down. These are large, durable square link chains that are designed to stand up to rigorous terrain.
I strongly recommend checking your owners manual before installing tire chains. Vehicle manufacturers often list specific procedures and restrictions for tire chain use that must be followed.
