Trailer Brake Controller Comes on Full Power with Head Lights on a 1999 Chevy Silverado
Question:
My brake control module only turns on when I turn my lights on and goes to full power. If my lights are off I can push the test button on brake control and trailer brakes come on. My break petal never turns them on or off whether the lights are on or off. I had factory installed tow package and have control plugged in under dash. Please help!

I know exactly what is wrong. The red wire on the brake controller harness plugged into your 1999 Chevy Silverado is in the wrong location in its plug. This is a common issue. All you have to do is move the red wire to the correct location. I have included a picture showing how the various wires should be configured in the end that plugs into the truck.
