Trailer Hitch Receiver Rated for 8,000 on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Built Before 11/1/2002

Question:

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram with an 8 foot bed, built in August of 02. Im trying to find a hitch that will at least tow 8K-10K pounds. I see some that your site offers that say they wont work with it due to build date, others because of the bed length. Is there any way to make a BandW BWHDRH25211 or a Curt C14020 work? Or do I just have the only truck around thats totally different...

Dodge Rams that were built after November 1, 2002 for the 2003 model year have a different frame design. Which increased their tow capacity quite significantly. Because of that this hitch receivers available are designed with a GTW of 5000 pounds for models with an 8 foot bed.

The hitch receviers, Curt # 13326 and Draw-Tite # 75135 both increase in GTW to 10,000 when used with weight distribution. So I recommend using a weigth distribution system with either hitch to get the towing capacity you're looking for. You'll still want to find the maximum towing capacity of your truck though.
