Is Trailer Tire Size 18.5 x 8.5 x 8 the Same as Trailer Tire Size 215/60-8

Question:

I need to replace the tires and wheels on my utility trailer. The tires that came with it are about 20 years old and are no longer made. They are Goodyear Power Cushion Trailer Service tires, size 18.5x8.5x8, Load Rating C, on 4-lug, 4 on center wheels. Can you tell me what I should order from you to replace these? I think the new size is called 215/60-8, but Im not sure. Thanks!

According to our resident tire expert, the 215/60-8 is the modern equivalent of the 18.5 x 8.5-8 tire. I have included a link to a tire sizing FAQ for you that compares different tire sizes.

If you just need the tire, we have some options. First is # AM1HP26. This is a load range C tire rated for 935 pounds at 50 psi. Second is # AM1HP28, rated at 1,165 pounds at 70 psi.

If you want a tire and wheel combo, we have two options. First, is # AM3H290, that comes with a white steel wheel. 935 pounds at 50 psi. Second is # AM3H300, that comes with a galvanized wheel, 940 pounds at 50 psi.

Trailer tires should always be inflated to their maximum indicated psi rating for best performance.
