Rubber Equalizer Troubleshooting on a 2008 Keystone 344J Everest 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

We have a 2008 344J Keystone Everest with your axles and suspension system. We have noticed several months ago that the rubber cushion in your system is, compressed, cracked and hard as a rock. The ride in our RV is terrible and creates great disruption inside the RV whenever we travel. We had a 2005 Everest and had none of these problems. What would you suggest?

I did some research and found that your trailer is rated at well over 14,000 lbs. so the correct replacement equalizers would be the E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System by Dexter Axle - 7-3/4 inch Equalizers, item # K71-653-00. The part you mentioned, item # K71-652-00, is for up to 6,000 pound capacity trailers and would be too light for your Keystone Everest trailer.

Depending on your gross trailer weight, loaded and ready to tow, the # K71-653-00 may also be too light for the trailer. You should get an accurate fully loaded and ready to tow weight of the trailer to select the correct replacements.

Dexter is the manufacturer of the E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System. I contacted our supplier and was informed that the equalizers on your trailer may have been installed by the manufacturer and if warranty service is needed you would need to contact them. If the system was installed aftermarket the installing dealer would need to be contacted.
