Fit & Compatibility of Trailer Hitch on 2009 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Hatchback for Motorcycle

Question:

hi i just had a few quick questions about part 76084. First of all i saw the website claims that it will fit a 2009 subaru impreza. But my question is will it fit my 2009 subaru impreza outback sport. Its practically the same car to my knowledge but the outback sport is a hatch back. Secondly with the TW tongue weight being 525lbs does that mean that i could attach a dirt bike carrier that weighs 40lbs rated to carry 300lbs , and a dirt bike weighing 250 pounds making a total of 290 lbs. With out having any problems? Let me clarify that it is a dirt bike carrier NOT a trailer. so it does not have wheels. It will be hanging in the air, along with the motorcycle ONLY attached at the part connecting the hitch and dirt bike carrier. So were the 2 pieces come together. im not sure what its called Thank you for you time and hope to hear from you soon. Have a great day. Ive also attached an image to show what it would be like.

The term you are looking for is the shank of the motorcycle carrier will attach to the receiver of the trailer hitch.

The 2009 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport is a Wagon model so as long as it has the single exhaust and does not have the quad exhaust then the Draw-Tite hitch # 76084, you referenced, will fit your vehicle.

The hitch itself is rated for 525lbs of tongue weight but this doesn't mean that your vehicle is. You will find the TW on the placard on the inside of your driver's door. If you reference your owner's manual on page 8-13 it will explain this loading weight rating further. The takeaway here is that you will be limited to your lowest rated item in your setup which may be your vehicle's frame.

If you vehicle has a rating higher than 525lbs then you will be limited to the max of 525lbs tongue weight because that it was the hitch is rated for. Using this as only an example, because I do not know what your vehicle is rated for, a hitch with a 525lb tongue weight capacity (on a frame with at very least the same capacity) with a dirt bike that weighs 250lbs + the weight of the rack (40lbs) would have no problem transporting the 290lbs of tongue weight.

If you would like to get back to me with what the placard label says, I'd be more than happy to help you figure out if this will work for your vehicle. I have linked the above mentioned part to this page for your convenience.
