Ground Clearance with Curt Trailer Hitch Installed on a 2014 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Greetings, When comparing the factory Toyota Hitch PT228-48140, to the Curt C13200, is there a difference in ground clearance between the OEM and the Curt? We will be using it with a Saris Freedom SuperClamp 4 bike platform rack and would like to get the most clearance available. Thank you.

I can't say what the factory hitch ground clearance is for the 2014 Toyota Highlander but with Curt trailer hitch # C13200 it is approximately 13-1/4 inches from the ground to the bottom of the hitch receiver and 15-3/4 inches to the top of the receiver opening. I have linked a video that shows some clearance measurements and installation for you.
the 4-bike version of the Saris Freedom SuperClamp, # SA4026F, has the rise in the shank between the first 2 and second 2 bike positions so that will also help with ground clearance.
