Why Does Curt Hitch for 2015 Subaru Forester Require Hole Enlarging But Not Draw Tite

Question:

For the Curt hitches on the 2015 forester it looks like you must enlarge a mounting hole in the frame. The Draw-Tite video instead shows passing the hardware through a fourth hole that is further forward on the frame, which looks larger. Can this be done with the Curt hardware to avoid enlarging one mounting hole? Or is the Curt hardware still too large, or the fish wire too short? I like the price and good reviews of the Curt, but dont like the idea of enlarging a hole.

It looks like the carriage bolt spacers that come with the Curt Hitch part # C13144 are larger than the ones that come with the Draw Tite hitch part # 75876 and that is why the Curt hitch requires enlarging the holes on the vehicle to get the bolts to install.

Because of that I can't recommend you install the Curt hitch without enlarging the holes.
