Recommended Suspension Enhancement to Reduce Rear Sag on a 2013 Ram 3500 w/Truck Bed Camper?

Question:

I have a 2013 Ram 3500, SRW pickup that I intend on putting a truck camper on. This truck has lower overload springs but no uppers. Do you think that the stable loads alone will take care of any rear end sag? Also, what stable load model is needed for this truck? I would rather not use Timbrens and stable loads. If I need both would adding upper overload springs be better? Thank you

Helpful Expert Reply:

The StableLoad designed for your 2013 Dodge Ram 3500 SRW is part # TLA7311.

The TorkLift StableLoads will help some with leveling the load but were designed to help stabilize it from body roll and side to side sway when hauling a heavy payload. If paired with a set of upper stabilizers it would increase the effectiveness of leveling the vehicle.

Since you don't currently have an overload spring you could get the SuperSprings # SSA23, but if it were me, I would go with the Timbren system for your truck.

The Timbren Aeon Springs are a simple installation suspension enhancement system that will level the vehicle's rear end sag on your truck. I recommend the part # TDR3500CA. These rear springs will work without the need for top overload springs. The Timbren springs are designed to help stabilize and level your vehicle. You shouldn't need anything more than the Timbren's for you truck camper.

The TorkLift products would pair nicely together with the Timbren's if you continue to have excessive unwanted body roll after installing just the Timbren springs.

If you installed upper overload springs it would help with the vehicle sag as long as the camper was on the lighter side, if it's heavier you may still experience some rear end sag.

If you frequently find yourself in other situations where you are experiencing sagging then the overload springs would have a overall better ride, but since your primary concern is the truck camper, the Timbren's would be the best support for the camper and put less stress on the factory springs.
