Installing Trailer Lights on a Non-Metal Frame
Question:
I want to get the STL8RB trailer tail lights and the HM48240 harness. The lights are shown as 3-wire with one white ground wire. The harness provides only 2 wires 20foot long to each light. The only white ground wire on the harness is 36inch long to the trailer body. How are the lights grounded? There is no metal/ body ground available at the light mounts. Please advise.

Good news, I can help.
You can simply connect an extension wire like part # DW02359-1 from the ground wire on the # STL8RB light to the trailer's main ground connection or to the metal trailer tongue.
We do have a trailer wiring installation kit # HM51020 that will make installing the Hopkins # HM48240 harness to the trailer a little easier.
I have linked all the above mentioned parts as well as a Help Article for your viewing and purchasing convenience.
