How to Adjust Primus IQ Brake Controller TK90160 to Allow Backing Up Trailer
Question:
Can I back up with the brake controller connected. I see some reference to temporally disengaging the controller in the owners manual but it doesnt state that this is a necessary step to back up.

Expert Reply:
If your trailer happens to have free-backing type EOH hydraulic drum brakes like # AKFBBRK-35-D that do not engage when you back up the trailer then you do not need to do anything to the Primus IQ brake controller # TK90160. If you happen to have standard electric drum brakes then to reverse the trailer you can simply press and hold the boost button for 5 seconds while pressing the brake pedal; this will deactivate the unit for three minutes to let you back up the trailer without the brakes engaging. When you do this you will see the attached image on the controller display. You can also turn down the power level on the controller to zero.
