Recommended 7-Way Wiring Components for 2002 Coleman Pop-Up Camper

Question:

I bought a 2002 coleman popup with a 6 pin connector with brakes. I had a hitch put on a 2015 toyota siena le with a 4 pin connector and 7 way. Do they make a harness to accomodate this? Thankyou

We do offer wiring adapters that allow connection of different formats of trailer wiring, but these are not the best long-term solution. Adapters add connection points, which bring the potential for problems, so the best option for trouble-free wiring is to swap out the 6-pin connector on the Coleman for a 7-way plug like # H20044. All you need is a wiring junction box like # 38656 and ring terminals for making the internal connections from the new plug and the trailer's existing wiring.

You can use part # DW05702-1 for 16 to 14 gauge wires and part # 44-5310A for 12 to 10-gauge wiring such as +12V power and brakes.

You can refer to the linked photo and article for the wire/function configurations on a typical 7-way. Match your trailer wires up by function (not by color), secure with the ring terminals to the junction box, and you're all set to go without the worries about corrosion and reliability that come with adapters. You can simply apply 12-volt power to each circuit on the trailer connector to see what function each one carries.

If you still prefer an adapter and have a 6-way round connector on the trailer you can use part # 47549 from Hopkins.
