Fitting a Bones 805 on a 2015 Subaru Outback with Electric Liftgate
Question:
Hello, I have tried attaching this rack to my 2015 Outback and I cant seem to get the side and bottom hooks around the edges of the rear door due to a lack of space between the door and car frame. I could open the rear door but Im afraid to because it has an electric lift which doesnt allow partial opening. Maybe, its fine to completely open the door. Also, do I need to worry about the strap going over the rear spoiler? Thanks,

To get the Saris Bones part # SA805BL to secure around the rear hatch of your 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon will require you to partially open the hatch so that you can slip the hooks past the seam.
The procedure for opening the tailgate manually is explained in the owner's manual, section 2-43. You have to climb inside the car, remove a plastic cover on the inside of the tailgate, and move the opening lever manually. This is the same as the previous generation and it's the same whether you have the manual tailgate or the power tailgate.
