Trailer Hitch Recommendations for 2003 Subaru Forester
Question:
Hello, I realize that for my vehicle 03 Subaru Forester, I should install a class II hitch. However, I have several 2inch ball mounts that I would like to use rather than buying a new 1 1/4 ball mount for a class II. My question is do you have a class III hitch that will fit on my 03 Subaru Forester? Thanks

The vehicle and the structure under the car where the hitch attaches wouldn't be strong enough to withstand towing a Class III rated trailer, which is why a Class III hitch isn't available for your vehicle. None of our hitch manufacturers offer a Class III option for your 2003 Forester. The Draw-Tite Class II hitch, part # 36311 is a reasonably priced solution.
For a trailer wiring harness, use part # 118461. You'll also need a ball mount like # 36051, but you will want to measure your specific trailer for rise and drop needed. You'll also need a hitch ball. For a 1-7/8 inch ball, use # 19256 or for a 2 inch, use part # 19258.
