Installing a Brake Controller in a 2006 Ford F-150 Using the Ford Factory Brake Controller Harness

Question:

I am trying to wire up a Tekonsha 9030 Brake controller to my 06 F-150. The Truck harness has 5 wires white, red, blue, green, and brown. The 9030 has 4 wires blue, white, red and black. There is no connector at the end of the Tekonsha wires. Is there a way to wire up the 5 wires to the 4? Im trying to take our new trailer out this weekend and need to get this done asap. Thanks

I can certainly help you get the brake controller wired up to your 2006 Ford F-150. On your Ford wiring harness the red wire is 12 volt power, green is input from the stop light switch, white is ground, blue is output to the trailer brakes, and brown will not be used.

Connect the brake controller white wire to the truck white wire for ground. The brake controller black wire connects to the truck red wire for 12 volt power. Attach the controller red wire to the truck green wire for input for the stop light switch. And splice the brake controller blue wire to the truck blue wire for output to the trailer brakes.

I have also included a link to our help article on brake controllers for you.
