Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab
Question:
I need a receiver hitch for 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn Quad Cab 2WD. Truck bumper has a hole for ball and says rated at 5000 lb. Which model receiver hitch will fit my truck? Does this require drilling? Thanks for your help!

There are a few options for trailer hitches for your 2008 Ram 1500.
I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 14361. This is a Class lV trailer hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. This hitch is a heavy duty hitch and requires no drilling for installation.
For a Class lll hitch I recommend Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75420. This has a 2 inch receiver opening and also requires no drilling for installation.
Both of these hitches do have a higher towing capacity than the rating you said the bumper has.
If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
If you need trailer wiring and have no trailer connectors on your truck I recommend the Tow Ready Upgraded Circuit Protected Taillight Converter Hardwire Kit, part # 119178KIT.
